I've added my God Mask to our etsy page! https://www.etsy.com/listing/196740040/castlevania-god-mask
Went to SGC 2014 this weekend to help a friend run her booth and decided to enter the cosplay contest too. Was honored with third place for my Cammy. It's a special design done by Bogdanbl4.
Congratulations to the other winners. They had some amazing cosplays. I was told that one of the main things that impressed the judges was that I had sewn the zipper into my fly correctly! lol
It was also a surprise to get to meet some big name Youtubers such as JonTron and AngryJoe. Such cool and interesting people.
Plus, I've updated my prop/cosplay gallery. Some new pictures along with a new format.
Got started on the young Doctor today before my Ipad died and I lost my reference. Will pick it back up tomorrow and try and get the other two done.
Quick pic of two EpoxAcast gems outside. It's about to storm here, so it's not the strongest lighting. Gem on left colored with four drops of red. Right has four red and two white. The mold was Oomoo 25 with mold release.
Overall, I really like the material and will continue to use it for gem/clear applications instead of the stuff from hobby stores.
I did need to purchase a food scale because it has to be measured by weight, not volume, a first for me. Also, it has a 24 hour cure period. Pot life is 5 hours.
The original gem was hand-sculpted and sanded before I molded it.
Picked up some Smoothcast ONYX fast today along with EpoxAcast 960. Other friends who make props have been recommending it to me for years. I'll do a write-up on both after I've gotten a chance to use them this week.
Been doing some color comps before I actually start painting.
I'm going about this one a bit differently than I have in the past. More research, more steps.
Finally finished it. Been working on it for about two years.
Pepakura base with a smoothcast slush inside. Metal and bone detail hand sculpted with Apoxie sculpt. Primed and painted with off white and silver. Finished with brushed acrylics and sealed. Interior is lined with fake fur.
And my internship is already over. It went by way too fast. The team at Picture Plane was great to work with and I feel like I left there with more knowledge and skills than when I began. It was great to work on so many different projects for so many different clients. And while I know that not everything I worked on will still have my art when it's printed, I'm still going to be proud to know that I 'might' have helped with it.
Next step? No idea. I've got some props and a portrait commission to finish up. Then, I'll start sending out my portfolio again and see what I can pick up!
Got my entry in for the Game Artisan Comic Con challenge with just 9 minutes before the cut off time.
