Hi April, Sorry not to have gotten back to you sooner. Ideally we could find time to talk while we're both looking at the drawings together. Maybe during class next week while everyone else is doing collages? I like the style. Why only one shade of gray? Do you think having more would spoil the graphic style? I'd like to see the prize winning Halo illus and the ones your old teacher liked...I can't see the pen line well on the blog pages; haven't tried clicking on them to see enlargements. Love the birds especially! Hand written type would be ideal; can you make a "font" by writing each letter until you have 2-3 really good ones of each letter to cut/paste into words? I hope you'll draw from live models a lot, it will remove what I feel is a little stiffness/awkwardness in your figures. We all need to keep up that skill. It also helps give a professional, skillful line quality and accuracy that only constant drawing practice can give. It also helps with making faces less generic-looking. Try to avoid too many full frontal and profile views, they are usually stiffer than 3/4 or foreshortened views. Great work, see you in class.
