Day 16 06/22/2010
I cheated a bit. I actually did more work yesterday, but didn't post it. It was more of an experiment than anything else, since I painted over it completely today. It involved the usage of my airbrush and the attempt to create stars. I found a FAQ that mentioned pinching the tube and tilting the airbrush so that it would splatter. Worked, kinda.... But I wasn't really happy with it. Felt too fake. So, I spent this morning looking for good examples of space art done traditionaly. Not that many to find, at all. Then I remembered one of my favorite illustrators, John Harris. He has amazing space paintings, done in oil and acrylic. (Not on the same canvas of course.) Using some of his pieces for inspiration, I repainted the entire canvas, going for a more expressionistic technique. And yet again, I find myself creating each star by hand, but it wasn't as bad as last time. Overall, I went for a very dark color scheme. I'll apologize now. I suck at taking pictures of my traditional stuff. It looks much better in person. I don't know if I'm done with it yet. I'll be speaking with the professor on thursday and I'll bring it in so he can see it. CommentsLeave a Reply | ArchivesCategoriesAll |
