11th Dr Who 10/12/2011
The 11th Dr is done. I think. I might go back before varnishing it and darken some of the shadows. But before I mess it up, I'm moving on to the 9th Dr. I'm really happy with my progress on these oil paintings so far. I can even see myself getting better with each one. The strokes are becoming more natural and I'm even ignoring the pencil lines and just letting the paint do what it wants. And movie news: Most of the prop concepts are close to %100. I just have one more to get approved and then I can start on the construction. I even went and picked up some half round styrene rods yesterday and words can not describe how excited I was to have them. I think it mostly stems from what I've seen Blind Squirrel and Volpin do with the same supplies and now I get my chance! Add Comment Dr. Disney 10/03/2011
I'm doing a series of every version of the Dr. Started with the 10th. Next is the 11th. Plus a quick Disney illustration for a friend. Three-Eyed Crow 08/01/2011
Just finished the latest novel in the Game of Thrones series, A Dance with Dragons. I was inspired by the description of the Three-Eyed Crow. Such an interesting character. Done with Copic warm and cool. Third Oil Portrait 04/11/2011
Playing with oil paint 02/21/2011
I found the courage to take up my brush and play with some oil paint this weekend. The Edge 01/17/2010
Finished the painting that I was playing with. Would have posted it sooner, but the site wouldn't allow me to upload any pics. Odd... Oh well. After trying to create some sort of texture on the wall, I decided to make space. It's been a while since I've done anything with stars and nebulae. And I now remember why. I loved creating the gas, going for a finger painting approach. But the stars were created one at a time via brush. I know that there are easier ways to create stars. But I'm a control freak and it makes me happy to know where each one is place. Oil and Acrylic 01/12/2010
Not together of course. That would be bad. lol Found my unused oils last night and in a fit of boredom decided to try them out. I've only used oils once in my life, and that was years ago. Killing two birds with one stone, I threw in a face study. I'm happy with it. I like to look at the brush strokes. It's interesting in how blotches of color can make up a picture when you take a step back. Also did some more work on the acrylic painting. I removed all the sun light that was streaming through. Not sure where to go from here.... Working out a problem by painting 01/08/2010
I'm working on a painting right now. Must have mentioned it last post. It has no real purpose other than I've been wanting to paint for a while. It's more a way for me to play. I've run into a snag. I'm not sure how to proceed when it comes to the light. The first picture is of the painting as is. The others are alterations created digitally to see how the changes would play out. I've played with the dark and the light mostly. I'll need to sleep on it before I make any real changes. New helmet 11/01/2009
Got the Mass Effect helmet pepped. Went through several incarnations. But I'm happy with this pep. I'll be smoothcasting it in the morning and then get to begin detailing it next weekend. Got to enter my first art show last weekend. Only submitted two works. The Fall and Midnight. Even made my own frames for them. Just thin strips of wood painted black. The reception is the 21st. It will be nice to see all the other work there and even if any of my stuff sold.... Art 10/16/2009
Did two paintings recently. Got one done for a friend for his birthday. He really likes Halo. The other came from some inspiration from Art History class. Something done by Mondrian. Will have updates on cosplays soon. | AprilJust a military brat who wants to tell stories by any means possible. ArchivesJanuary 2012 CategoriesAll |
