Download page now up 09/23/2011
I was recently asked by someone if they could use my Cybershade pep file. And I don't see any reason not to let them. So, the tutorial page has now become a download page. I'll be posting pepakura files there as I finished the related project. Add Comment After graduation... 09/17/2011
After graduation, I find that this is what has been filling my days: -Waiting on agent's email about my book query -Starting outline of next novel -Doing two different freelance concept art projects -Filling out forms for local art show and hospital displays -Working on personal cosplay -Working on commissioned props -Personal paintings -And of course working at the pool. Photoshoot posted! 09/15/2011
And it can found on my group's Da page here: http://shinkastudioscosplay.deviantart.com/ Here is a quick preview of some of my favorites: The shoot was done in the same train station as our Silent Hill one last year. A big thanks goes out to our roommate and friend D for being our victim! I'll post some of the WIP pages soon that show how the sculpting and latex work went. And we won Best Group! And had a photoshoot with the same guy who did the Silent Hill shoot with us last year. He is saying that they look amazing so far, maybe even better than the Silent Hills stuff! I'll post some it when I get my hands on it. We also wore our My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic cosplays for the first time. I was Applejack and it was fun to wear something that was comfortable for once. Had a shoot for this group too. And, because I forgot to post it last week: another entry to a challenge for ArtOrder. My first illustration fully in oil. 2 weeks till Afest 08/19/2011
And the group is working hard. I've got one more head to cast and the rest of my body to finish up. Sorry that I'm not releasing what we're doing. I'd like to keep it a secret. But it does involve our latex work. And I'm very excited at how it's turning out. Along with the cosplay/prop building, I'm begining work part-time at a local pool. It will be nice to get back into the water. And another painter for the next contest at ArtOrder is being worked on. In oil! One of the judges is the art director for Tor. It would be amazing to do something that she likes. And before I forget, a quick digital thing I did for a little contest involving Haunt. Three-Eyed Crow 08/01/2011
Just finished the latest novel in the Game of Thrones series, A Dance with Dragons. I was inspired by the description of the Three-Eyed Crow. Such an interesting character. Done with Copic warm and cool. Threadless and Afest plans 07/19/2011
Since I enjoyed the last Threadless contest so much, I decided to enter another about NASA and the final frontier. This is the original image done on my Ipad with Procreate. The page for voting is here: http://atrium.threadless.com/nasa/submission/thar-be-monsters-2/ You will need an accout to vote. And now to Afest. As a group, we have finalized who or what we are each going to be. The focus will be on our latex work again because we got a really good response last year. And I'll be using my new love of sculpting and latex masks. Not sure if I'll be posting WIP because I want it to remain a surprise.... Study and Sprites 06/27/2011
Been feeling a bit more creative lately. Might have to do with a new project that I'm helping out with. I met Andrew at GDC Austin last year and have finally gotten the chance to help his team out. I'll be learning how to do sprites. That will be a good skill to have. Daily study and query quest 06/26/2011
This morning's studies. One done in photoshop, the other in corel. I think I prefer corel for landscape studies. The round oil brush works with me. And after receiving my rejection from Tor, I've been studying up on query letters and synopsis's. I'm pretty happy with how they are and I've been sending them out; at least one a day. I think I'm up to 11 or 12 now. With 3 rejections out of those. I'm feeling stronger about those that are sent out with a synopsis and even sample pages. There is just too much going on that I can't get into the basic query. Threadless submission 06/25/2011
I've had this design sitting in my portfolio for a while and thought that it would look good on a shirt. 'Fingers crossed' |
