I have to say this warmup turned out better. I did this pair in corel with the oil brush. It's letting me focus more on the overall shapes and less on the details.  Done from pictures found online.

That's what it's come down to. That's all I do in the middle of the week. Happily, I had most of my homework done before the day even started, so I got to do some freelance. GASP! I know. Bad artist. But they understand. We all have other things going on in our lives. After that was sent off, I got around to laying out my portfolio for print. The teacher in charge of everything recommends that we put 14-20 pieces in the book. I've got 21 or so, because I want to include some of the other pieces related to the concept art I'm putting in. I want people to be able to see my thinking process. Hope this doesn't get me in trouble.

Today, I wanted to get back into doing warm-ups before getting into homework. So, I picked my weakest subject: landscapes. I found a few beautiful photos and did my best to reproduce them. Let's just say that this might become a daily thing.

Got a surprise last Tuesday. My old roommate showed up at my Illustration Tech class as the model. The surprise soon wore off as I got into art mode and focused more on her apperance than who she actually was. Overall she was a good model, minimal movement over the three or so periods she sat.
There are going to be some changes to the site over the coming weeks. Thanks to my improving knowledge of HTML and CSS, I'll be redesigning it in preparation of graduation.

I know its a few days late, but I'm finally able to report and what GDC was like. Or at least the small portion that I got to see.
There was a total of five different seminars that I got to attend. Each had it's own unique message, but there was an overall theme about resumes, interviews, and networking. Lots of notes taken. But I'm happy with some of the stuff that I heard.  I seem to be doing some stuff. Doing team-based work outside of school. Using Linkedin.  Doing lots of art, in various styles and programs. Having working knowledge of other programs.
I just need to start getting my online portfolio straightened out and then start sending out my resume.

With GDC tomorrow, I've decided to do a quick run-over of my resume. I added some other jobs I've taken on and fixed some spelling errors. Silly me. Spelling was never my strong suit.

Ran by Acadamy today and picked up a small package of EVA foam to play around with. I've been studying EvilFx's amazing set of Mass Effect armor and I'd like to extend his tech to my Tal'i. So far, I can say that it seems to be cheaper than smoothcast and fiberglass. I just need to get the tech down right. The sanding is a test of paitence. But it was my first attempt and I plan on practicing more before actually starting on a real piece. My experiement is sitting out back at the moment, covered in primer and various types of paint. I just wanted to see how it would look and what I would have to do in the future to make it look like different substances. Will make more progress next weekend.
