And it began earlier than I would have liked. About 4 hours earlier. As in 5 am. Yep, that's when I'll have to get up. At least three times a month though. Which isn't that bad really. I just need to get more sleep the night before, as well as more food throughout the day.
First class of the day was Art Direction at 8 am. Advertising stuff. I'll make it through okay. Poster design at 11 is promising. The instructor is Holden, whom I had the special problems with. We've even got homework already. Use a well know poster artist's style and create your own poster. Any content. So, I'm torn between Mucha and Struzan. For content, I'm thinking either Green Lantern or Halo Reach. I can see Struzan's style working really well with Reach. I could even use my pastels on it!
Last class of the day was Interactive. Hopefully I'll be relearning HTML and CSS so I can update my site and make it more personal.
Those aren't all my classes though. Got illustration tech and special problems on Tuesdays after everything else.

I can finally say something about this... I won! My entry was selected to represent the story "Midnight in the Heart of Midlothian" and will be included in an upcoming printing of the book. I can't wait to go to a bookstore and find one of my own illustrations in a book...
I have to admit that I had forgotten about this contest. I'd check the Halo Waypoint page once in a while to see what was up... It was a big surprise to receive the email. And an honor.
Here's the announcement: http://halo.xbox.com/en-us/transmissions/article/2010-08-16--Halo-Evolutions-Art-Contest-Winners

I saw a video on Youtube recently in which a concept artist was just doing quick thumbnails of characters. His focus was more on the silhouette of the characters than anything. It looked interesting, and helpful. So, I've decided to try an incorporate that into my work flow. I've managed to do it two days in a row before starting on any other concept work. And it does seem to help.

Been working on one of the new cosplays for Afest. The cloak is taking much more time than I had thought. I had to order four more rolls of organza. I hope that covers the entire thing.
The effect is turning out better than I had hoped. The cloth is forming a fluffy, featury texture that only takes forever to create. I should be done by the time I get to the hotel room in month....
Also sent out a request for possible use of a vacuumform machine from someone in the 405th. I really want to get the visor done for Tal'i. I feel like if I can get the helmet completly done, then the rest of the outfit will just fall into place.

My brother and I have had this idea for a while. I just thought it would be funny to have Norton 'hulk' out when Tyler tells him to hit him. That would be the end of the movie. Which would suck, but the over all idea is funny. I've got a couple other ideas I'm going to put in comic form. Which is good because I need the practice. I'll be doing a special problem class next semester in which I make a comic. I love getting a head start.
It's not all in color because I actually prefer comics in black and white. I might add more color later... Enjoy.
And, for those of you who visit my site (I know you exist, I have a counter...) please drop me a comment and let me know if the overall design is working for the site. Let me know if anything is awkward or just doesn't work. Thanks!

Long time no post.
Been busy resting up from the trip to Peru. Finishing off my two week supply of antibiotics in case of malaria. Doing more concept art. And cosplay.
I've decided to add a third cosplay to what I'm bringing to Afest. I'll be using the Cybershade as my comfortable cosplay. I've already got the mask pepakura'd out and resined. My Tal'i legs have gotten the same treatment. Since they're form fitting and won't allow the passage of my heel, I'll be making a hinge of some sort using rare earth magnets.  Haven't figured it out all the way yet.
And that's just about it. So exciting.....
